"Through therapy I gained confidence that I am enough, and that taking care of myself is a good thing - not selfish. I learned to say 'no.' I learned to be honest with myself and coming clean with secrets that had been tearing me up. I also learned to forgive myself. I learned self-control. Whether the problem was big or small you were always there to lend a helping hand and never made me feel like any of my problems were stupid or that I was an inconvenience to you. If I came to you with a problem, I always walked away with a solution." - AA
In a comfortable, safe, and supportive atmosphere, I create a highly-personalized therapy for my clients - primarily individuals and couples. I also treat families, and will see children in a family context.
Addressing a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues, I help individual clients become more self-aware, and increase personal growth, satisfaction, and happiness. I help couples reduce feelings of disappointment and resentment, increase compassion and communication, and rediscover the intimate connection that has been missing or forgotten. I help families have difficult conversations, apologize to each other and accept appropriate responsibility, resolve conflict and repair damaged relationships, and get through difficult phases of necessary developmental transition.

I am a client-centered, relational therapist. The personalized treatment that I offer is heavily influenced by, and an integration of, several therapy modalities: systems theory, attachment theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method™ techniques and research (I am a Gottman Trained 7 Principals Educator), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Structural Therapy, Lifespan Integration, Nonviolent Communication, Buddhist Psychology, mindfulness, and understanding the interconnected nature of neurobiology, physical health, and psychological well-being. Movement can enhance the therapeutic processing for some clients through Walk and Talk Therapy, an innovative approach to therapy outside of my office.
I also teach some DBT skills to help my clients find relief from an emotional crisis. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment that focuses on behavioral change in the realms of emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness, and self-soothing. The skills effectively reduce personal suffering and allow clients to be aware and proactive, versus reactive, with emotions and behavior. This treatment is suitable for a wide variety of clients, who may suffer with anxiety, depression, PTSD, codependency, and many other mental health symptoms.
To give back to our country's Veterans, I am a proud provider of Give an Hour. This is a wonderful volunteer organization dedicated to providing a free hour of mental health services per week for U.S. Military personnel affected by the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, and their families.
"Think of therapy as a gift, and make it, and yourself, a priority."
